"A former Drug Enforcement Agency warehouse, the Rubell Family Collection located in Wynwood proves to be anything but conventional. Spanning 40,000-square-feet, the museum tailors the whole first floor as the “New Shamans” exhibit, which features the work of artists who hail from South America. While the downstairs transports you into an enriching world that addresses environmental, social and political concerns, the museum’s “High Anxiety: New Acquisitions” is more therapeutic: the exhibit uses art to channel and understand everyday nerves and stresses."
"It was the talk of the town during Art Basel 2020, and not without reason. The Rubells' new museum in Allapattah is by far the best permanent collection of art in South Florida, showcasing the family's vast collection of contemporary art from the '60s onward. You'll find work by Jeff Koons, Sterling Ruby, and Kehinde Wiley and a shrine-like gallery for Keith Haring."
"Originally established in New York City in 1964, this Miami art museum was moved to a former DEA confiscation center by Jason and Jennifer Rubell in 1993. One of the world’s largest privation collections, the Rubell Family Collection features works from Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Jeff Koons, Kara Walker, and Jean-Michel Basquiat."
"Head first to CocoWalk, where there is ample covered parking. Stroll through CocoWalk’s colorful boutiques and kiosks. When hunger strikes, head for Chili’s, Fat Tuesdays, Duffy’s Sports Grill or the Cheesecake Factory. If you’re in the mood for Latin food, check out Jaguar Ceviche Spoon Bar & LatAm Grill (next door to CocoWalk) or stroll over to the Sonesta Bayfront Hotel and sample excellent Peruvian fare at Panorama (located on the hotel’s 8th floor) which boasts a spectacular view of Dinner Key Marina sailboats and Biscayne Bay."
"Grab the car and spend the afternoon in Coconut Grove strolling through the Tuscan-style pedestrian mall CocoWalk, which includes hundreds of shops, restaurants and bars. A hidden favorite down the road, Monty’s, is ideal for waterfront afternoon drinking and the occasional local band. Walk along the dock to admire boats of all shapes and sizes."
"A post shared by CocoWalk (@cocowalkmiami) on Aug 31, 2018 at 2:03pm PDT. In the heart of the Coconut Grove community is CocoWalk. Coconut Grove is one of the oldest communities in Miami and it has always tried to maintain its old school Miami aesthetic."
"Spread across eight square blocks just off Washington Avenue, this breezy, open-air shopping street offers a high-low variety in a tropical sun-drenched setting. With over seventy-five shops ranging from national brands like H&M and Sephora to specialty boutiques, spend the day window-shopping with a friend or bring the entire family. After some serious retail therapy, sit down at your choice of sixty local restaurants including Havana 1957 for authentic Cuban cuisine or duck into SuViche for a tuna tartare and a glass of Peruvian macerados."
"Between 16th and 17th Street in South Beach lies Lincoln Road, a "shopping street" of sorts, lined with stores, restaurants, art galleries and cafes. From national chains to eclectic one-of-a-kind shops, there is something around every street corner of this pedestrian mall. When the hunt for a good buy has taken its toll, shoppers take a break and people watch at one of the many restaurants with outdoor seating on Lincoln Road."
"A post shared by Thomas ONeill (@tjoneillinc) on May 10, 2017 at 5:42pm PDT. Lincoln Road has quickly become a Miami shopping hot spot especially since the area has been closed off to pedestrian traffic only. The street runs east to west and is parallel to 16th and 17th street."
"You also have the Dolphin Mall relatively close to you. However, if you can’t spare too many hours, there are some interesting things to do in Miami airport, as well. The food is great, and you can try many Cuban specialties to get a taste of what it’s like around here, but the airport also boasts a yoga room, art exhibits and even a spa."
"Mary Brickell Village is a delightful open-air shopping and entertainment area with a wide variety of restaurants. After lunch, make time for some souvenir shopping at Brickell Village’s stylish boutiques."
"The Shops at Mary Brickell Village is a lifestyle center located in the Brickell neighborhood of Miami, Florida. It has become a very popular…"
"Inspired by the four ‘T’ cities — Tel Aviv, Thong Sala, Tokyo, and Tulum — the Upper Buena Vista outdoor mall is full of photo opportunities. With many hidden spots boasting beautiful Instagram backgrounds, you’ll have to explore the entire premises to discover them all. We won’t keep you guessing too much, though — here are some of our favorites:"
"The domino park is located in Máximo Gómez Park on SW 15th ave. As you walk along Calle Ocho, you should be able to spot it. This is the perfect place to visit if you love traditional and authentic vibes!"
"#GoNative tip:Before you leave the ’hood, at least stroll by “Domino Park,” where old-timers join to play frequently and the clatter of dominoes can be heard down the street."
"Head to Calle Ocho (SW 8th Street) to watch the heated competition at Domino Park or shop for a quality stogie. Plan to stay:2-3 hours"
"When you’re dreaming of Miami, you're dreaming of Lummus Park Beach, a postcard-perfect spot surrounded by historic art deco buildings, high-end hotels, a winding beachfront walkway, and bronzed athletes playing volleyball games on the sandy courts. This beach is full of action and a favorite among tourists looking for the full Miami experience (Muscle Beach and frozen margaritas included). At the heart of Lummus Park, find Miami Beach's LGBTQ+ beach located at the intersection of 12th street, a hotspot during Miami Beach Pride and identifiable year-round by the rainbow flags at each lifeguard station."
"Because South Beach is such a broad description, and the varying beaches here go on for miles, we thought we'd narrow it down. Lummus Park, the area of the beach located along Ocean Drive from 5th to 15th Street, is the all-encompassing South Beach experience. This is the strip of sand that is always the most crowded, which makes for excellent people watching."
"Formerly known as the American Airlines Arena, the FTX Arena is home to the Miami Heat basketball team as well as serving as a venue for various shows and events. With almost 20,000 seats, this is a popular and fun spot to watch an NBA game while in Miami. Located along Biscayne Bay with easy access thanks to public transportation, everyone in the family will enjoy a visit to this famous spot."
"The 3,400 square-foot oceanfront basketball arena is the home court of the NBA’s Miami Heat. The 19,00 capacity arena has been awarded the Leed Green Building certification for being an energy-efficient building. When there isn’t an exciting basketball game, the American Airlines Arena hosts more than 80 music and other events, including WWE Smackdown."
"The Tank Brewing Co. is one of the newer breweries in Miami, and it’s pretty impressive, too. Home to a 4,000 square-foot tap room that can host up to 600 people, go here for 16 different Miami-inspired brews on tap, like La Finca Miami, Freedom Tower, La Playita, Byronic Brown, Rye-Lingual, El Farito and more. When you need some food to soak up the alcohol, fill up on chicken chicharrones, wings, tostonnes, tempura cauliflower, ham croqueta preparada, guava manchego burger, bacon burger or the “Angry Vegetarian” and bone marrow fried chips from Twisted Fork Kitchen, which sits in-house at The Tank Brewing Co. 5100 NW 72nd Avenue, Bay A1, Miami, FL 33166."
"At The Tank, cigars and beer don’t make for such strange bedfellows. Clocking in at 25,000-square-feet, there’s plenty of room for brewing, drinking and then lighting up a stogie at the adjacent cigar lounge. From an English-style brown ale to a tropical pale ale, the brewery’s three-barrel system allows them to crank out a new beer every week."
"Where to find it: 5100 NW 72nd Avenue, Bay A1, Miami, FL 33166. Review: Extremely friendly and welcoming staff, ambient, delicious burgers. This is one of our absolute favorite Miami bars."
"Deep in stories and rich in history,NightLife Brewing captures Miami’s world-famous action inside their taproom. Nightlife also doesn’t fall short of their motto, “Producing amazing brews worthy of the magic city.” Some flagship beers include Spitfire Redhead (Rye Saison) and Daring Brunette (brown ale). NightLife settles in a 1,500 square foot taproom located outside Marlins Park in Little Havana."
"Little Havana's Nightlife Brewing Company, located at 1588 N.W. Seventh St., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the brewery and venue/event space 4.5 stars out of 57 reviews."
"Situated inside the University of Miami, this long-standing museum is a favorite for UM students and the Coral Gables community. The Lowe is home to a well-rounded collection of art from the Italian Renaissance, Baroque, Greco-Roman, and Spanish Old Masters, among others.
